Review and Analysis of Yeti Mallow by Nordisk

Introduction

Yeti Mallow, offered by Nordisk, caught my eye as an intriguing piece of wind-resistant ultralightweight clothing that essentially combines a jacket and a mid layer in one design, to be used for fast climbs in good but chilly weather.

I have been using the Nordisk Yeti Mellow Jacket mostly in summer and autumn daylong climbs in the Alps and the Tatras, as well as for running workouts and hikes. Overall, the jacket is quite versatile. Throughout my activities, thanks to a technology called the RedFlex, I noticed that the jacket maintains its effectiveness in keeping me warm, especially when the temperature dropped and I needed extra insulation. The combination of wind-resistant ripstop fabric at the front and elastic RedFlex fabric at the back, sides, and sleeves strikes a perfect balance between protection and freedom of movement. The weight of the jacket is made very low by using windproof material only at the torso, where it is most needed. Additionally, the flat seams in the garment prevented chafing, a crucial feature for extended wear during daylong activities.

One of the standout advantages of the Nordisk Yeti Mellow Jacket is its sturdiness despite its low weight. As an alpinist, having a jacket that can withstand abrasions from rocks and rough surfaces is essential, and this jacket delivered on that front. I never felt like I had to be overly cautious while wearing it, allowing me to focus on my climbs without worrying about damaging the jacket. This durability, combined with the jacket’s wind-resistant front and excellent heat absorption through the RedFlex technology, made it a reliable choice for a wide range of outdoor pursuits.

In summary, the Nordisk Yeti Mellow Jacket is a great piece of a clothing. Except for prolonged periods of rain, it could serve as a versatile piece of equipment that combines the jacket and the mid layer.
